Joe Hartman is a financial modelling consultant, VC investor, fundraising advisor and speaker.

He is the Founder of GRAY Financial Modelling, a specialist builder of financial models, primarily working with pre-Seed to Growth stage companies who are looking to raise investment, or plan their business.

 

Joe has been involved with c.£400m of investments and fundraisings over his career and to date, c.£150m has been raised by clients of GRAY. He is one of the few people in the financial modelling space with a background in Venture Capital, which enables him to guide on forecasts and metrics to assist with a successful fundraise.

 

Prior to founding GRAY, Joe was an early employee of Octopus Investments - one of the fastest growing businesses in the UK - where he was Investment Director and Deputy Head of Apollo VCT, a £150m growth and buyout fund. He has also held senior Corporate Finance advisory roles at BDO and Grant Thornton.

 

Joe speaks regularly to Founders and CFOs on how to build “VC-ready” financial models, and sits as an advisor on the Investment Committee of Blackfinch Ventures – a seed stage tech VC and the UK’s best performing VCT fund of 2024.
